Early Preparation – one reason we’re so proficient with keeping our clients’ operating as usual in the face of large snow storms is because we prepare for the upcoming winter, months ahead of time.
- We familiarize ourselves with your grounds so we’re able to avoid hardscape and softscape elements that have been buried under a blanket of snow–if you’ve ever had to bring in a new snow contractor in the middle of the winter and had them plow into borders, parking blocks or an even more expensive to replace landscape feature, it’s probably an experience you’d rather not have again.
- Early on we identify and designate the best areas for piling snow where it will be off the beaten path and have the drainage it needs when it starts melting.
- We also make sure hedges and trees are pruned properly so they’ll have the best chance of bearing heavy snows, strong winds and icy conditions.
Snow Removal – you can count on us to be there, plowing and shoveling snow off of parking areas, driveways, walkways and stairways so people can get where they need to go, when they need to.
Ice Prevention and Removal – we’ll apply ice treatments to paved surfaces like sidewalks and exterior steps. Some of the types of ice melts we use include:
- Liquid deicers – which work best as a pre-treatment to prevent ice from forming and can also be helpful with melting thin glazing if the temperatures don’t drop too low.
- Granular deicers – which are needed when there are thicker layers to penetrate.
- Sand – which is used for traction purposes.
Winter Storm Response – as part of our 24/7 snow and ice services, we’ll be constantly monitoring the weather forecast so we can be ready to respond at a moment’s notice. We’ll also be there to clean up any downed tree limbs and other debris left behind after a strong snow or ice storm.
