Darrick Stirling started his lawn maintenance career at the age of 14 as he pushed his mower around local neighborhoods, hired a friend to help, and passed out homemade business cards. Little did he know that his perseverance would take him to where he is now as a U. S. Lawns franchisee. He is actively involved with his church and community, and has been a part of the U. S. Lawns family since 2012.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Inbound Communications

Receives and screens incoming telephone calls, makes appropriate referrals and, in the absence or unavailability of the requested staff person, takes and relays timely and accurate messages with an awareness of their significance
Becoming familiar with the phone system. Need to be able to transfer calls to the person requested or their voice mail. Also needs to be able to retrieve the company’s voice mail.
Becomes familiar with the U.S. Lawns Clients.

Customer Service

Greets visitors and assures their inquiries are answered.
Saying Hello with a smile.
Inquiring their name and whom they are there to meet.
Making them comfortable if they have to wait (offering them a drink)

Information Creation and Delivery

Prepares a variety of written documents, including correspondence, proposals, reports, forms, memoranda, and other written material assigned by the Office Manager. Using the office computer software available (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, QuickBooks).
Assists in the faxing needs for the office.
Assists in the filing.
Creating files for new clients.
Monitor the “Filing” box and schedule time to keep up with the filing of documents and field forms.

Accounting Support

Assists Accounting in coding invoices and data entry for invoices.
Match vendor invoices with original order.
Matching receipts to invoices received.
A/P data entry for vendor invoices.

Major Job Responsibilities

Primarily responsible for the acquisition of new commercial landscape management contracts through a disciplined sales and marketing process. Responsible for prospecting, lead generation, proposing and closing sales in a business to business environment.

Must have knowledge of the local market.
Outside business to business sales experience is required.
Must possess good oral and written communication skills.
Valid driver’s license required.
Flexible work hours, including evenings and some travel may be necessary.
Prospect for new customers.
Exhibiting and staffing the booth at Trade Shows both locally and regionally.
Management and execution of Direct Mail campaigns.
Management and participation in telemarketing programs.

Major Job Responsibilities

Professionally represents U.S. Lawns at all times.
Able to respond properly to the client and follow up to make sure their needs have been completed to their satisfaction.
Maintains positive, responsive and flexible attitude to all clients.
Inspects site and advises client of potential liabilities.
Able to assign tasks to crew members and follow up to make sure that work was completed properly.
Trains crew members to do job effectively
Can effectively communicate in English and/or Spanish what is to be learned.
Able to evaluate the performance of the crew.
Maintains and promotes safe working conditions in the field at all times
Follows company procedures on discipline if any safety rules are broken.
Conducts and documents safety tailgate meetings weekly with the crew.
Is accountable for neglect and abuse of assigned equipment
Able to maintain all jobs to bid specifications.
Maintain client satisfaction
Maintain a punch list with priorities on it to aid in making schedules.Monitors all irrigation controllers.
Able to read and write
Shall possess a valid State driver’s license appropriate to the class and capability of the vehicle(s) that they are assigned to operate and driving record must meet company standards as well as the State requirements where the vehicle is driven.

Field Operation

Report to work on time.
Remove loose trash and debris from landscape area before mowing.
Remove weeds from sidewalks, curb lines, and mulch beds.
Report property damage to Foreman or Lead Person.
Help crew load and unload equipment at the job site.

Client Relations

Always be courteous.
Always wear a clean uniform.
Know what to do if a client or anyone else asks a question.
Learn to use the proper equipment for the job being performed.

Equipment Use

Become certified in the training/certification program for the designated pieces of equipment (21” mower, 36” mower, 48” & 60” mower, riding mower, blower, edger and weedeater).
Learn to service/perform the necessary preventative maintenance on equipment.
Learn the proper loading and unloading of equipment.

Safety

Attend/participate in company orientation program before performing any work.
Learn to adhere to all company safety rules/policies.
Must attend and participate in all tailgate meetings.
Must use appropriate safety equipment when necessary.
